It is regarded as the most important Bani or set of verses by the Sikhs and is recited every morning by all practising faithful of this religion. The word Jap means to recite or to chant implies practising this truthful path to achieve the aim of human life i.e. GOD. Ji is a word that is used to show respect as is the word Sahib. One who regularly recites Japji daily will gain; spiritual peace and tranquillity; wisdom about the mysteries of Gods creation; understanding and appreciation of the ups and downs of life; the knowledge and confidence to move forward in this world at a higher moral level; the ability to become an inspiration to others and a support for the many. The Ten Gurus of Sikhism were responsible for the creation of this faith which took place over the period from 1469 to 1708 - a period of about 239 years. At the point when the last of these Gurus departed this Earth, the Guruship was passed to the Sikh Holy Scriptures, the SGGS. ![]() With your Command some are always emotionally attached (stuck in cycle of life and birth). Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories. Without these gifted virtues so many saints would not have existed. O Nanak, one who thinks he knows all, shall not move forwarded. If some fool should say otherwise, he certainly will have to eat his words. The warriors, the heavenly beings, the silent sages, the humble Sewadars speak. Sing, Indra, seated upon His Throne, with the deities at Your Door. Sing, Pandits, the religious scholars who have studied the Vedas for many ages. Sing, brave mighty warriors, Sing, the four sources of creation. Having created, He watches over the Creation bestowing Grace and happiness.
